Note!

This is NOT a final release! (Hence the generic name, icon, poor feature support). I know about various holes, (though hopefully there are no major bugs, just missing features). It is purely released as a demonstration of how far I've managed to get with YM2413 emulation. Which isn't very far at all!

Support

This VGM player supports the following sound chips:

• SN76489 (PSG) - complete support for this chip, including different LSFR (noise channel) modes (for VGM versions 1.10 and above) for different platforms. The Game Gear's stereo mode is also supported.
• YM2413 (FM) - very, very basic support for this chip (in development).

Known issues:

• SN76489 (PSG)
  • Some samples do not play correctly, or are too quiet to hear properly. The PSG chip runs much faster than the sound sample rate (~3.5MHz against 44.1KHz), so by default the PSG is clocked many times for each sound sample, and the final output level is an average of the different states in that one sample. You can disable this behaviour (and only use the output level at the end of the sample) by unticking the "Average Over Sample" option on the PSG's sound menu. (In some cases, this still doesn't work: see Space Harrier's "Aaargh!" and "Get Ready!")
• YM2413 (FM)
  • The YM2413 emulation is extremely rubbish, based on a very loose understanding of the rather difficult-to-follow application manual. It is still in development! (It sounds worryingly like my old Yamaha PSR-19 - is this a good thing?).
